2023 Summer Institute: Pre-Scholars

Pre-Scholars are rising 8th and rising 9th graders (current 7th-8th graders). The total cost for residential participants is $5,500.* This cost, which must be covered by parents or sponsors, includes tuition, room, board, books, field trips, recreation services, and insurance. Students keep books and other materials provided by the Institute. The fee for field trips is used to cover all expenses including travel, food, lodging, entertainment, and supervision. Scholarships are not available for Pre-Scholar Academies. 



2023 Summer Institute: Scholars

Scholars are rising 10th - rising 12th graders (current 9th-11th graders). The total cost for residential participants is $6,800.* This cost, which must be covered by parents or sponsors, includes tuition, room, board, books, field trips, recreation services, and insurance. Students keep books and other materials provided by the Institute. The fee for field trips is used to cover all expenses including travel, food, lodging, entertainment, and supervision.

There is a limited number of scholarships available to cover tuition. The amount of the scholarship will vary according to need with $800 as a maximum award. Priority for scholarships will be given to applications received before March 3, 2023.  

The SAT prep course is optional for an additional $600 fee.



The Career Development Academy: (for 7th & 8th grade Trenton Youth)

The 2022 Career Development Academy (CDA), is an online program. Program participation is covered by a philanthropic grant, so there is no charge to rising 8th-rising 9th grade (current 7th-8th grade) youth who live in Trenton, NJ youth.



For the Accelerated Learning Academy (for 8th & 9th graders)

Due to COVID-19, the 2022-2023 Accelerated Learning Academy will be an ONLINE PROGRAM. The Accelerated Learning Academy provides online STEM instruction, ongoing academic and college preparation, mentoring and interaction with world-class scientists throughout the school year for only $600.**  Applicant profiles will be reviewed on a rolling basis upon receipt of application & supporting materials; therefore, prompt submission of materials is highly recommended. Students will be informed of acceptance into the program by Friday, February 10, 2023. If applicable, the materials list will also be shared with families for personal purchasing and future reimbursement according to the materials policy. Families and students must inform us of their desired attendance by Monday, February 13, 2023. Program payment must be completed by February 22, 2023.

Materials Policy 

For ALA STEM Tracks that require students to have physical materials while participating in the online workshops at home, participants and guardians will be emailed a materials list and accompanying policy in advance - complete with website links for personal purchasing of each item. The total cost of materials aims not to exceed $25 per weekend workshop. Upon electronic submission of receipts, the Institute will reimburse families via Visa electronic gift card.
