The Career Development Academy (for 7th & 8th Grade New Jersey Youth)

Deadlines 

The Career Development Academy (CDA), will be a hybrid program. Online programming will occur via a web conferencing platform. In-person programming will occur at Mercer County Community College (MCCC). We accept applications on a rolling basis and will consider applicants with strong qualifications. The submission deadline for the application and latest report card is May 5, 2023. Following the initial application review process, semi-finalists will be virtually interviewed at the Orientation and Screening program on May 13th. Students will be informed of acceptance into the program by May 15th. Students accepted into the program will be expected to inform us of their decision to enter the program by May 17, 2022. Program participation is covered by a philanthropic grant, so there is no charge for participants!


The Career Development Academy will be in session on the following Saturdays: May 20st (MCCC), May 27th(Virtual), June 3rd(MCCC), June 10th (MCCC), and June 17th (MCCC).



2024 SUMMER INSTITUTE AT PRINCETON UNIVERSITY

The Summer Institute Deadlines

We accept applications on a rolling basis and will consider applicants with strong qualifications through April 3, 2024. Scholar applications received by March 27, 2024 will be given priority for scholarships. As such, we strongly encourage students to submit applications as soon as possible. Following the initial application review process, semi-finalists will be notified by April 5, 2024. Semi-finalists will be invited to participate in a virtual Orientation and Screening Program held via a web conferencing platform on Saturday, April13, 2024.  

Program Duration

The Summer Institute will operate at Princeton University from June 22, 2024 to July 27, 2024. Participants in the Scholars Program must check-in on Saturday morning, June 22, 2024; participants in the pre-scholars programs will check-in on Saturday morning, June 29, 2024

Summer Institute Essay Prompt (for current 9th,10th & 11th graders): Why do you wish to participate in the Institute? Describe your education and career goals, community service activities and/or leadership roles you have performed.

As an alternative to submitting the application online, you can download the application, and email the completed application with the supplements (transcript, 2 recommendation letters, essay and COVID-19 vaccination card) to us at admissions@duboisscholars.org



The Accelerated Learning Academy (for 8th & 9th Graders)

Deadlines

We accept applications on a rolling basis and will consider applicants with strong qualifications. The Early submission deadline for the application, transcript, two letters of recommendation and essay is December 18, 2024. Those who successfully apply by this deadline will receive the $1,200 premium rate for the program. The Regular submission deadline for the application, transcript, two letters of recommendation and essay is January 18, 2024. Those who successfully apply by this deadline will receive the $1,500 standard rate for the program.

Following the initial application review process, semi-finalists will be virtually interviewed between January 19 and January 26, 2024.  Applicant profiles will be reviewed on a rolling basis upon receipt of the application & supporting materials; therefore, prompt submission of materials is highly recommended. Students will be informed of acceptance into the program by January 29th. Students accepted into the ALA will be expected to inform us of their decision to enter the program by January 31, 2024. Complete program payment will need to be received by February 14, 2024. 

The Accelerated Learning Academy (8-9) will be in session from February 23-25, 2024 March 22-24, 2024; and April 19-21, 2024.

We accept applications on a rolling basis and will consider applicants with strong qualifications. Those who successfully apply by this deadline will receive the $1,200 premium rate for the program. The Regular submission deadline for the application, transcript, two letters of recommendation and essay is January 4, 2024. Those who successfully apply by this deadline will receive the $1,500 standard rate for the program.

Following the initial application review process, semi-finalists will be virtually interviewed between January 5th and January 12th. Scholarship amounts are awarded on a rolling basis, so we strongly encourage students to submit applications as soon as possible. Students will be informed of acceptance into the program by January 16th. Students accepted into the ALA will be expected to inform us of their decision to enter the program by January 18, 2024. Complete program payment will need to be received by February 1, 2024

The Accelerated Learning Academy will be in session from February 9-11, 2024 March 1-3, 2024; and April 5-7, 2024.
