ADorian ThomasA’Dorian Murray-Thomas, 2012 W.E.B. Du Bois Scholars Institute graduate, was recently recognized at the White House by President Obama as a College Opportunity “Champion of Change.” In September 2016, Stefani Jones of the Office of Public Engagement, recognized A’Dorian Thomas-Murray as one of eleven individuals selected for making strides in their respective communities.

A’Dorian has attributed part of her success to the foundation and values that the W.E.B. Du Bois Scholars Institute provided for her. She stated, “I am a proud W.E.B. Du Bois Institute Alumna, and I am always grateful for the ways that program prepared me for college and beyond. Thank you for everything you do to make stories like mine the norm!” Surely, A’Dorian’s accomplishment exemplifies the capabilities and expectations of our alumni. Receiving high level awards is the norm. Acceptances into top schools is the norm. Attaining higher educational degrees is the norm. Assuming leadership positions is the norm. Impacting the community is the norm. Excellence and success is the norm, and it starts here.
